Become one of Mary’s Fighters
More than 20,000 women will be diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer this year. More than 15,000 will die within three to five years because there is no cure. And there is no reliable screening test.
The mission of “Lift Every Voice/Mary’s Fight” is to heighten awareness about ovarian cancer through public education and to generate support for caregivers with a special emphasis on males. Why males? Because I learned through my own experience just how difficult it is for a man when his wife is diagnosed with an incurable disease.
I had a false sense of security because after Mary’s surgery she bounced back and returned to work in good spirits. I thought we were doing just fine. Truth is I was in denial and not doing all the things I should have been doing to take care of myself and her. In my mind she was the only one who needed care. Reality set in when her cancer returned and she started treatments all over again.
When ovarian cancer strikes it takes on the whole family and friends of the family. The pain grows according to the number of family and friends. I became an ovarian cancer fighter when Mary lost her fight with ovarian cancer. Now, I must convince you that this is not just a one man fight. I am asking you to join the fight. Become one of Mary’s Fighters against a disease that does not ask your permission to join your family.
We need to “Catch It Before It’s Too Late”.
Volunteers are always needed. Sign up to become one of Mary’s Fighters.
